Man tries blog to see if he's really Elvis' son
Tuesday, July 19, 2005 -- By Brad Floury

Folks snickered when they heard a truck mechanic living in Horton claims he may be the long-lost son of Elvis Presley.
"Sure," we guffawed. "And Jimmy Hoffa runs a bait store on Center Lake."
Tim Farrell knew he would open himself to ridicule when he told his story last year. By now, he deserves better.

Let's give him credit: Farrell appears sincere, level-headed and determined. He keeps saying he wants no money from the Presley estate.
"If I ever change my mind and ask for money, I hope the public chews me up, like they ought to," said Farrell, 50.
"All I want is a DNA test to prove it one way or the other."

After making overtures through an attorney, Farrell has lost hope the Presley people will cooperate with a DNA test.
"They're really not responding to us very much," Farrell said. "They have no obligation to provide DNA to anyone."

Instead of giving up, Farrell decided to try convincing the world to take him seriously. Last week, Farrell and friends created an Internet blog at www.iselvismydad.blogspot.com where he promises to post "very compelling circumstantial evidence" he is Elvis' son.
That's what I mean about being determined.

The blog was first named "Elvis is My Dad" but Farrell shut it down and re-opened a few days later with a new name, "Is Elvis My Dad?"
"Honestly, I do believe it is true," Farrell said. "But I cannot claim it is true without evidence."
That's what I mean about being level-headed.

Farrell said his mother told him in 1978 and again on her deathbed in 2002 that Elvis was his father.
She said he was conceived when she, at age 19, had a one-night-stand with the singer at a Memphis motel in 1954.
After the mother died, the family found a package she left for Farrell. It contained "documentation and information" to support the claim.

By posting evidence on his blog, Farrell hopes to draw the attention of some unrecognized child of Elvis Presley willing to compare DNA.
"We found it likely Elvis had other kids," Farrell said. "We are trying to find them. Hopefully, people will come forward."
If DNA can prove Farrell has the same father as another alleged child of Elvis Presley, it would be strong evidence both claims are true.

Perhaps the keepers of Elvis Presley's memory also suspect The King left a sprinkling of illegitimate children.
That's one reason to explain why they would brush off people like Farrell when a simple test can squelch false claims.

As for me, I stopped snickering.
Farrell has done nothing in the past year to suggest he is a kook or a gold digger.
He deserves to learn the truth as much as anyone else looking for a parent.

Hello Friends!

We finally have this blog functional, and want to continue sharing information on a regular basis about the things we’ve found out in Tim’s search for DNA.

We know that there are a lot of skeptics; it seems that every fanciful and obsessive person wants to be Elvis, or his kid. We also know that it will lead to a lot of potential ridicule along the way.

However, there are things we can talk about that help people better understand Tim and why he’s on this quest. If people keep an open mind, there is a possibility that they will see the logic in it. We’re blogging to spread the message that one man has a story and much information, and he has a right to know where he came from, regardless of the identity of the parent.

So, we’re coming with more information on this site. Even if you don’t believe it’s true, if the man is credible (and he is), he should be entitled to the option of knowing either way. Unfortunately, when you’re a 50 year old truck mechanic without the kind of money to go immediately into a court fight, there aren’t a lot of possibilities open to you. That is certainly true when the potential parent is any kind of celebrity, let alone an icon like Elvis Presley.

We have talked with people connected throughout the Presley network; from EPE attorneys to Elvis researchers, from other Presley family members to folks in the music business. One common thread we find (with the exception of EPE), is that nobody demonstrates surprise at the thought of Elvis having other kids. In fact, the most knowledgeable folks with whom we’ve talked, feel it’s a certainty. We’re looking for those potential siblings that seem most credible, and look for DNA matches with any that are willing.

At this point, we’ll start laying out the details for everyone. Please keep an open mind and offer any discussion or questions, or any ideas that you might have for us.
Thank you.

Is Tim Farrell the
Son of Elvis Presley?
He Has a Right to Know!

In the summer of 1954, Rebecca Stewart was a 19 year old woman who had recently moved to Memphis, Tennessee. A couple of her friends took her to the Eagle’s Nest, where Elvis Presley was performing.

Over the course of the evening, Elvis repeatedly asked Rebecca to dance. She was very hesitant, because as she said, Elvis danced so wildly she did not think she could keep up with him. He teased her and called her, "Chicken, chicken!". She finally agreed to slow dance with him.

That night, Elvis invited Rebecca’s group to join him and his band for chili at a popular late-night restaurant after the show. Afterward, Rebecca’s friends went home and she went on with Elvis, ultimately spending the night at the Flamingo Motel on Lamar Avenue in Memphis. Elvis gave Rebecca cab fare to get home the next morning, and he was picked up by some of his band members.

Three months later, Rebecca found out she was pregnant. On April 2, 1955, Timothy James Farrell was born.

Rebecca didn’t discuss her relationship with Elvis, except with a few close family members. She was understandably embarrassed to be a pregnant teenager in the South – and as Elvis was just becoming very well-known, she felt that nobody would believe her anyway. She felt she would be the object of ridicule, and that it would cause her a great deal of trouble with her family.

Tim grew up knowing only that his biological father was a musician. In 1978, several months after Elvis death, his mother told him that Elvis was his father. Tim was already an established and working musician. He traveled and worked in the South and throughout the Midwest. Ultimately, the press picked up Rebecca’s story, and Tim was hounded wherever he sang by curious people and booking agents. He felt he was becoming a spectacle, and there was no way for him to prove his mother's story. Finally, he asked his mother not to talk about Elvis anymore, and he quit singing.

Tim moved on with his life until 2002, when his mother was dying of cancer. The last time he spoke with his mother, she told him from her deathbed that it was true -- that Elvis was his father. After her death, Tim's siblings found a sealed package for him left by his mother. It was the documentation and information in that package that convinced him to try and find a way to confirm his parentage.

Since the middle of 2004, Tim has been trying to find someone to assist him in his search for the truth. He has a small, but committed, group of people that are trying to help him in this effort.

Over the months he has talked with attorneys working for the Elvis Presley Estate, and many others, trying to get someone to release a DNA sample. He has been repeatedly turned down in his quest. This, despite the fact that he has an amazing amount of information that demonstrates the validity of his story. Tim has not asked the Presley family or the Presley estate for their money. But he DOES have a right to know who his father is and this is, very simply, what he is trying to accomplish.

Tim is now 50 years old. While he does not bear a strong resemblance to Elvis, he looks very much like Vernon Presley. In fact, he has the same birthmark on his face that Vernon had.

He also is an amazing singer, and we’ll make sure you get to hear his voice soon on this site. The uncanny familiarity of his voice always grabs people’s attention. He has been interviewed around the country by newspapers and radio.

This blog site is dedicated to Tim Farrell, as well as to all children without the financial means to afford legal representation and get DNA confirmation -- especially children of celebrities.
